(what is she doing now?!?) I just got back, again. This time from Vermont and New York. I was in Vermont at the Vermont Studio Center (I love snow!!) and had an amazing time and got an amazing amount of work done. If I forget to tell you - I love snow - this is very important. Prior to that I had been at another amazing residency at the McColl Center for Visual Art in Charlotte, NC. Amazing.
And looking ahead, I will be going to France at the end of April for another residency and then to Berlin for another. I just recently learned about doggie passports for dogs to travel in Europe. (!) I am seriously looking into this to see if I can't bring Tonta with me - she is quick with languages and really good at directions (and not bad at bumming for loose change). She's amazing - all in all a great travel companion - even without thumbs. You may be wondering - what about the Farms Project? Well, as many of you know, I was going to be traveling to Texas this Spring to begin work on the much anticipated the Farms Project. It turns out I have a lot more work to do! I am still in the fund raising and creative marketing and planning stages of this project, so I will continue to be muchly anticipating this project until next year, most likely.
Why am I telling you this? In order to help fund these projects I am selling contribution packages for a new project – the Kerry Philips' Traveling Trust. Keep reading . . .Your contributionwill help in the continued creation and development of new work and new connections made around the world. And 10% of what I make will go to a local non-profit. Every contribution will receivea certificate, card and email updates about my travels and art-making, human-being experiences. Contributions of $10 or more will receive a set of 10 Grandma Pulling a Funny Face and contributions of $50 or more will also receive their choice of a one of a kind handmade ornament (inspired by the make-do ornaments we made when I was a kid), 3 drawings from the whatsoever things series or one slumped glass jar from the jars (the people i know) series.

Drawings scratched through paint on waxed book pages. A test for my memory where I was trying to draw from memory everything I'd remembered looking at the day before.
jars (the people i know)
Fused glass jars. Another test for my memory where I was trying to remember every person I had ever meet in my entire life. Each jar represents one person. I write on the jars and then slump them in a kiln. The writing is fused into the glass – some is still legible and some is too distorted to make out.
